What are SABA and SCBA Devices?
SCBA and SABA devices enable individuals to perform their functions in oxygen-deficit environments. An SCBA device typically has three components:
- A high-pressure tank
- A pressure regulator
- an inhalation connection (such as a face mask)
Similarly, SABA devices have configurations that allow emergency respiratory protection for various applications. These devices combine supplied-air respirators and escape SCBA for entering and working in Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) atmospheres. The airline provides for extended work activity, and the cylinder offers 5 or 10 minutes of emergency escape breathing air. The cylinders are low profile and don’t interfere while entering and leaving tight places.
