About the Conference
The Ammonia Safety Training Institute (ASTI) will lead the conference, driven by its mission to eliminate ammonia-related accidents and injuries through prevention, mitigation, preparedness (PMP), and the One Plan for Emergency Response. ASTI’s vision is clear: not a single person should be harmed by ammonia products.

The main speaker, SCOTT SILVA, Chief of Operations & Industrial Emergency Planning for ASTI, will bring his extensive expertise to the conference, ensuring attendees gain invaluable insights and practical knowledge.
At a young age, Scott Silva went off to a Heating, Ventilation, Air-conditioning, & Refrigeration (HVACR) trade school in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon returning to his hometown of Santa Cruz, California he resumed his job performing Plumbing, Heating, Air-conditioning, and commercial refrigeration. In 1985, Silva joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union where he spent the next five years in an apprenticeship course and graduated in 1993 to become an Instructor of the Pipefitters Trade. Silva then graduated the instructors training program from the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in 1998.
In February 2022, Scott retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, capping off a distinguished career dedicated to advancing the HVACR industry and training the next generation of professionals. He is now the Chief of Operations & Industrial Emergency Planning for the Ammonia Safety Training Institute (ASTI), where he continues to promote safety and excellence in the industry.
